We know a couple things about our boys. They like big jets, big ships and have a bit of a fascination with big guns. Should I be concerned about their future? Probably.
Either way, we knew that the USS Midway Museum was a good fit for our family. It's located at the Navy Pier in San Diego and it was America's longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. It is home to a ton of military jets but we also got to roam the entire ship. From the officer's quarters to the control room we got to see it all and learn about it via a free audio tour. Maybe I shouldn't say free, but more included with admission.
Here are our favorite pictures:
This is where the guns thing comes in... |
Yes, she made me take a picture of her with every single one of these "people: |
Yet again, Cayenne and I were left roaming the ship while chasing Reno (who can zoom through any museum at light speed). All the while, Edson and Niko were both enjoying themselves thoroughly: soaking in the audio tour, taking in every exhibit, every talk by retired naval officers and all the bits and bobs along the way. I definitely had to get Niko to speed it up at the end but he could've stayed all day and I would've let him if it weren't for the cranky 2 year old in the group.
Cheers to more fun in San Diego!
How fun! I'm sure this will be one of the boys' favorite things on this whole adventure.
ReplyDeleteGREAT HISTORY EXPERIENCES FOR THE BOYS AND IT LOOKS LIKE LITTLE SWEETFACE ENJOYED AS WELL. MY UNCLE EBB BRADLEY USMC WAS IN THE PIVOTAL BATTLE OF MIDWAY JUNE 4-7, 1942. ALSO, HE SURVIVED IWO JIMA, WAKE ISLAND AND QUADACANAL SO I APPRECIATE HISTORY LESSONS. THANKS FOR THE PICTS. LUV YA.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely tell the boys about Uncle Ebb, courtesy of Uncle Don. :) xoxo
